Those body-focused memes are everywhere…
Have you noticed the ‘eat right, exercise right, don’t let yourself go, because who wants to put on weight in a pandemic’ posts that are flying around right now?
One of the things so many whip-smart mothers tell me is that they don’t want their kids to have the same experience of their body as they’ve had.
These mums also tell me that when they let go of controlling their body, they can be a much better role model for their kids.
The next thing they tell me is how much time and energy they waste trying to exercise or eat the ‘right’ way (because oh lord, the judgment of others out there is REAL).
And when they let all that go and reconnect with their own body and what’s uniquely right for them, they become so much more peaceful and grateful. The sense of freedom is palpable. And the path to demonstrating body confidence to their kids is smoother and far easier to find.
A great step along the road to freedom and peace is to flip the bird to all that stuff that makes us feel like we’re not quite good enough, or that we’ve got to fall in line and do things that aren’t really us, but make us feel guilty if we don’t. I’m here to show you how to do that.

Here’s one little habit you can start today
As you scroll through social media or work through your inbox, unfollow or unsubscribe from anything that makes you feel like your body is a bad one.
The litmus test is this: If it makes you feel like your body is less than someone else’s and therefor a bit stink and like you have to follow their regime in order to good enough, let it go. If on the other hand, something makes you feel like your body is amazing, a miracle worth caring for – keep that stuff going.
Who you are (and this goes for your kids as well), and what makes you a valuable person, is the content of your heart and mind, not the container you get about in. The real you won’t change if you age or sag or widen or crinkle or soften or become unwell. And if any of that stuff happens you to, your body is still amazing and still worthy or care and attention. If someone makes you think otherwise, gently let them go.
It’s amazing how rarely this message that bodies are amazing regardless of how they look or how big they are or any other way they look, gets shared. I’m so glad you’re getting to see it now.
