Sanity in the time of quarantine
I want you to know I think you are doing an amazing job right now.
It’s okay to feel overwhelmed.
…I want to remind you…
….There are a lot of unhelpful memes and messages out there about how to keep our kids healthy during this time (a lot of ‘immunity boosting’ and making sure they eat healthily and don’t eat too much sugar etc)…
… and if you’ve found yourself hooked in by that, or you’ve tried some of these things and ended up with a battlefield, I give you 100% permission to let all of those rules go.
It’s bad info based on a misunderstanding of long term health and wellbeing.
As humans, we are supposed to enjoy eating and eating can be a very calming way to deal with stress – so adding a whole bunch of tough rules isn’t going to help anyone.
I know you want health and happiness for your family. Of course you do. We all do!
Sometimes the healthiest thing is to eat comfort food in front of the tv as a family.
Or share a meal and talk about the funniest thing you saw today. Here’s a list of 12 Questions that can help mealtimes be a great time of connection.
Or make dessert together for no other reason than it’s an activity everyone can agree to do.
You’ve so got this!!
And I’m here for you. Please let me know how you are doing. In this time of quarantine, it’s a great time to connect, even if it’s to say hi.
